Welcome Back 2019
Happy Spring to all! Thank goodness we made it through Flu season, Technically it has ended March 31st! It has been a very cold start to the new year, but we made it through! With the wonderful warm weather, along comes allergies! Right now, students are visiting us with itchy eyes, sore throats and feeling very fatigued ( possibly due to allergy medications).
In the Health Office Kelly & I are always thinking ahead, so we are now reminding parents of incoming 6th graders, the 6th Grade immunizations and Physicals for the 2019-2020 school year. Many students go for their physicals in the first half of the year, depending on when their birthday is.Please notify the Health Office so we may send home a copy of the Universal Health Form with your child, or it may be downloaded from our website. We encourage all parents to send a copy of their student’s physicals, so we can keep our health charts current. Thank you for those parents who have already done so. Thank you parents for your cooperation.
Screenings have been completed for grades s,4,5 & 7. Screenings include height, weight, blood pressure, vision and hearing. For those students who have had referral slips sent home, please schedule appointments with the pediatrician and return the forms to the HO. If you have a specific concern (need to check your child’s eyes or hearing and they are not in the listed grades, please feel free to call the HO and we will provide the screening). We will be completing grades 1 and 8 in the next few weeks.
Scoliosis Screenings for Grades 5 and 7 will take place in May, Wednesday the 15th and Wednesday the 22nd. I will be speaking with the students’ about what scoliosis is , and how do we screen for it. Notices with return tear-offs are due back by May 8th, indicating whether you want the screening done in school or by the pediatrician. If you are having the pediatrician do it during the physical, please return the tear-off with the date of the screening. Thank you for your cooperation.
As always, the best prevention of sharing illnesses is hand washing! All students’ who come into the Health Office wash their hands and we offer them water to maintain hydration for optimal health. As always, all students who go home with temperatures of 100, need to be fever free for 24 hours without having medication. Please call us at the health office if your child has been diagnosed with a contagious disease, this information helps us as well as the other student’s parents! Thank you again for helping us to keep everyone well.
Thank you for helping us to keep the students’ healthy, so they may learn!
We all work as a team and look forward to keeping the students well, safe and secure. We want them to always feel they can come to us with anything as we are their advocates first and foremost.
