Welcome to our Health Updates! Spring will be upon us shortly, along with the long awaited longer days & warmer temperatures. We will be sending out physical forms soon for the 2018-19′ school year, along with the 6th grade vaccine notices soon! Also we will be conducting scoliosis screening in early May for those students in grades 5 & 7, permission slips to follow. For those parents who choose to have their pediatricians do the screening, they may opt out & just submit the report with the physical. Thank you.
The weather has been very warm for this season, hence we are continuing to see many students’ diagnosed with the flu and viruses with fever. Please remember, all students’ who go home due to fever need to be fever free for 24 hours without medication. Fever is the body’s way of “fighting off” germs leading to illness. This is the reason the students’ need to be fever free for 24 hours.
Now that Spring is right around the corner, allergies will be starting, and asthma related symptoms will continue as students’ recover from cough and colds. Oftentimes students’ will require a medication treatment before or after lunch, please feel free to call us and let us know. Thank you.
As always, the best prevention of sharing illnesses is hand washing! All students’ who come into the Health Office wash their hands and we offer them water to maintain hydration for optimal health.
Thank you for helping us to keep the students’ healthy, so they may learn!
We all work as a team and look forward to keeping the students well, safe and secure. We want them to always feel they can come to us with anything as we are their advocates first and foremost. Please feel free to drop by the Health Office with any questions or concerns.
