Wednesday classes: PK4 and 4th to 8th grade
Thursdays classes: PK3 and K to 3rd grade
Grade PK3 – grade 2: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5 and 2.6
Short warm up – stretching, calisthenics and sprints (green line to green line)
Activity: Manipulative skills
Continue throwing, catching, bouncing and rolling with grades PK3 to 2. Different pieces of equipment will be used for the activity. Students will be reminded of course of the safety rules which always apply to the sides of the gym and retrieving items outside the black lines. Grade 2 will start circle games of call ball and bounce ball using different size and function balls. Some balls will bounce and some won’t. The teacher will discuss rules as well as safety rules for the games. Grades PK to 1 will continue circle games adding rolling and catching along with throwing, bouncing and catching. These games will serve as a review of the skills we’ve been practicing. Demonstrate and explain the skill test which may or may not be started this day.
Grades 3 to 8: NJCCCS:2.2, 2.5, and 2.6
Warm up- Stretching, calisthenics, slow jog (2 min.) around the gym between the green and black lines and around the cones, and get ages of the students for the tests
Activity: Physical fitness
Begin the fitness unit with a pre test for sit ups. Explain and have two students demo the partner test on the mats. Begin the shuttle run fitness test. Students will be given up to 3 tries today to pass the test. If not they may try again next week. Students not being tested may jump rope, hula hoop, shoot baskets or play improvised 4 Square using rubber balls. Grade 3 will not use the basketballs but will use sponge balls instead because we have not had basketball as a class yet.
