St. Joseph Academy Physical Education
10/18 and 10/19/2017
Wednesday classes: PK4, 4th to 8th grade
Thursdays classes: PK3, K to 3rd grade
PK3, PK4, K, 1 and 2: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6
Warm up activity: calisthenics and short sprints (green lines)
Continue manipulative skills. Review throwing, catching, and bouncing using individual practice. Wall practice may be used with some classes. Begin partner throwing, catching, bouncing and rolling using different pieces of equipment.
Play small group circle games using rolling and bouncing the ball. Students will be sitting and/or standing for these circle games.
Different classes are at different points in the unit. For instance, the PK's need more time to practice these skills so they may or may not be at the same stage as the other grades involved in the activities.
Next week, grades K to 2 will do throwing, catching and bouncing skills tests.
Grades 3 - 8: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6
Warm up- calisthenics
Continue the volleyball unit by continuing volleyball games. If normal size volleyball used is too difficult then we will use a beach ball. (gr. 3 and 4)
Review rotation of players if needed and then explain rules for our volleyball game.
Remind students to stay off the net and away from the standards during play. Remind them that after a point or side out, the ball should be rolled under the net, not thrown, hit or kicked. Points will be assessed or students will be asked to sit out or a time out if infractions occur. Play the first game with the trainer volleyball and then use a beach ball with the upper grades too for more fun and excitement but change some rules to be used with the beach ball.
Enjoy the short week.
