St. Joseph Academy Physical Education
2/20 and 2/21/2019
Wednesday classes: PK4, 4th to 8th grade
Thursdays classes: PK3, K to 3rd grade
Grades K to 8 will have the Kids heart Challenge Kickoff. This activity is a fund raiser for the American Heart Association. Students will watch a video or two and we will briefly discuss the program.
Grade PK4 to grade 2: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5 and 2.6
Warm up – stretching, calisthenics and PK’s will jog and walk the green lines
Activity: Balancing activities and manipulative skills
PK3 and will begin or continue balancing skills. Students will balance on one foot then the other, balance on dome cones and balance while walking the lines and on strings put on the gym floor.
We will first watch a video discussed above and then resume normal gym class. Grades K to 2 will continue the striking balloon tests started 2 weeks ago. I will demo the tests one more time for review and they will then continue the tests. Students not being tested may hula hoop, jump rope or play with rubber balls or sponge balls.
Grade 3 to 8: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6
Warm up- Stretching, calisthenics
We will watch the video discussed above and then continue with normal gym class. Since grade 3 and 5 had no class last week, these classes will do last week’s activity which was side line basketball. Grades 5 to 8 will play 5 on 5 full court basketball after we discuss the rules and regulations. The teacher will pick captains, make teams and officiate the games. We will play 8 minute quarters and then substitutes will come in.
