Wednesday classes: PK4, 4th to 8th grade
Thursdays classes: PK3, K to 3rd grade
PK3, PK4 and K: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.3 and 2.6
Warm up- calisthenics, Stretching and slow jog
Activity: Fitness activities
Students will continue fitness activities with more partner sit ups. We will then do dice and spinning top fitness. Students will roll the dice and spin the tops to find the number of exercises they have to do or how long they will do a certain exercise. Students will be spread out in general space in the gym with partners.
Grade 1 and grade 2: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.3, and 2.6
Warm up - stretching, calisthenics, jog for 4 minutes.
Activity: Fitness activities and fitness testing
Make up tests for students who missed class on sit ups for 1 min.
Continue the shuttle run test. Students will have 3 attempts. If complete, begin the pull up/flexed arm hang test.
Students not being tested may jump rope hula hoop, play with sponge balls or jump rope.
Grade 2 still has a few kids that have to be tested on balancing still.
Grade 3 - 8: NJCCCS: 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6
Warm up- stretching, calisthenics, sprints (down and back- green lines)
Activity: Floor hockey
Begin the floor hockey unit. Teach or review how to properly hold and use the hockey stick keeping safety of great concern. (Students will be told the blade must not be swung higher than the waist.) Teach how to push and slap the puck when passing and how to field the puck when it is passed to someone.
Teach stick handling/dribbling the puck both the front and back of the stick blade as well as helping yourself by using the feet to help control the puck.
Individual, partner and small group practice will be used during this lesson. We will only focus on offensive skills during this class.
