Welcome to the 5th grade!
Week of December 11th -December 15th, 2017
Special reminders for the week:
12/12 – Retake of class photo
The following are the projected lesson plans for this week:
Grade 5 Science
We will continue our finish our CELL, Inheritances and Adaptations. If you have any questions, please contact me.
In this CELL investigation we will be observing traits that are passed down from parent to offspring. We will extract DNA and focus on its important job in handing down characteristics in both plants and animals. We will also study how species evolve and adapt over time to changes within their environment.
Grade 6 Science
We will continue with our fourth CELL, The Atmosphere. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
In this CELL we will be investigating the composition and characteristics of each layer of our atmosphere and studying weather patterns and phenomena. We will conduct labs to show how weather and climate forms over time and look closer at global warming and what we can do to prevent sea levels rising.
Grade 7 Science
We will continue our third cell CELL, Acids and Bases. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
In this CELL students will investigate the properties of acids and bases and learn more about pH. We will conduct experiments and take a closer look at how electrons are lost and chemical and ionic bonds are formed. We will also investigate the differences of reaction times involving acids and bases.
Thursday – Benchmark for CELL 3 – Acids and Bases
Grade 8 Science
We will end continue with our third CELL, Electricity and Magnetism. Please contact me if you have any questions.
In this CELL, students will investigate how electricity works and conduct experiments creating their own circuits. They will also take a deeper look at magnetism and how power grids and cells work. Students will also create their own power source and use it to move objects within the lab.
