Schedule for the week of Monday 11/12/18:
We will begin our second CELL, titled “Inheritances and Adaptations”. In this lab the students will investigate how traits and genes are passed down from parental generations to the offspring generations. We will look at the Human Genome Project and further explore the role DNA and RNA have in mitosis.
We will continue our third CELL, Kinetic and Potential Energy. In this CELL we will look at the various types of stored potential energy and how it can be converted to kinetic energy, or the energy of motion. We will investigate the Law of Conservation of Energy and analyze our data to show it holds true.
We will begin our third CELL, Acids and Bases. In this CELL we will explore how acids and bases react with other compounds and elements. We will perform experiments with serial dilution and learn the basics of neutralizing strong acids and bases.
We will continue our third CELL, Electricity and Magnetism. In this CELL we will look at how voltage, current, and resistance are related. We will use resistors to limit the current and measure the voltage. We will create magnets with copper wiring and batteries to pick up various metals.
