Welcome to the 5th Grade!
The following are the projected lesson plans for this week:
Grade 5 Science
We will begin our next CELL, Investigating Heat and Heat Transfer. If you have any questions, please contact me.
In this CELL investigation we will be observing how heat moves through different mediums and exploring the relationship between Fahrenheit and Celsius scales. We will create our own thermometers and introduce new equipment in our labs.
Tuesday – vocabulary quiz on key terms from Investigating Heat and Heat Transfer
Wednesday -Benchmark on Earth’s Forces
Grade 6 Science
We will continue with our CELL, Simple Machines. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
In this CELL we will be investigating our place the use of simple machines and their relationship to work and force. We will introduce new terms and look at how simple machines make our lives easier. We will create our own pulley systems and use levers to lift loads a specific distance.
Grade 7 Science
We will continue with our last CELL, Adaptations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
In this CELL students will investigate how adaptations occur within species over time and the benefits adaptations have in allowing organisms to survive in changing environments. We will look closely at the relationship between adaptations, survival, and the changes caused by humans in our world.
Tuesday – vocabulary quiz for Adaptations
Thursday – Benchmark test for Cell Cycle and Cancer
Grade 8 Science
We will begin our CELL, Photosynthesis. Please contact me if you have any questions.
In this CELL, students will investigate how photons are absorbed within the thylakoids of plant cells and the chemical process resulting in oxygen and glucose. We will introduce some new procedures such as the extraction of chlorophyll with ethanol and cultivating aquatic plant life.
