SuperKids: Students will work with Superkids book, “Adventures of the Superkids” Students will continue to practice decoding and blending sounds. They will learn predictable patterns, rules to read and spell challenging words. Students will begin to read longer stories about the Superkids in their readers. Students will begin Units 7 -8, lesson
Monday: No School
Tuesday: Students will be introduced to new Student Book Units 7-8. Students will identify and distinguish between short and long vowel sounds. Students will learn CVCe pattern.
Wednesday: Students will begin with a new list of memory words; Students will encode CVCe words and work on CVCe plurals.
Thursday: Students will build vocabulary and background for the story “Kites.” Students will read and comprehend the story “Kites.”
Friday: Students will continue with the story ,”Kites.” Students will recognize plot structure: Beginning, middle, and end.
Math: Progress in Math
Ch. 4: Data and Graphs: Using Operations; In this chapter students will collect, describe, organize, display and evaluate information in a variety of different kinds of formats and graphic organizers. They will construct, read and interpret data that they use to pose and answer questions. Students will work with tables and graphs to examine data sets, find the range, and the measures of median and mode. Students will use number facts to solve problems based on graphed data.
This week’s objectives: Students will understand math vocabulary in order to understand and solve math problems. Students will use the four steps of the problem solving process to interpret graphs and solve problems. Students will review strategies to solve problems Students will complete. pp.179-184. Chapter 12: The Church Serves
This week’s objectives: Students will learn that Jesus appointed the Apostles to care for the Church, and how the pope and bishops care for the Church today.
Students will begin a New Unit called the “Properties of Solids and Liquids” Throughout this unit students will investigate how solids and liquids are similar and how they are unique. Students will perform experiments to increase their understanding of the term property and students will develop an understanding of characteristics that define the two states of matter.
Investigation 3: Properties of Liquids Students will continue their exploration of matter by studying three properties that are characteristic of liquids:
